Bluebonnet Portrait FAQ
The first step is to make your donation directly to the Washington-on-the-Brazos Historical Foundation. You’ll find a link for that below.
The foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. They sponsor educational programs, improvement projects, and they even sponsored a project to plant bluebonnets on the site.
You can choose your photoshoot time on one of two days: April 10th or 11th, 2021
In order to accommodate as many families as possible, each photoshoot is limited to 20 minutes.
You cause use your photoshoot for your immediate family, or just your kiddos. In all cases we will focus on a complete group image first, and then if time permits we can create some individual portraits as well.
Because of the nature of this event, we simply do not have time to photograph extended families. If you would like portraits of your extended family, we are happy to schedule a regular photoshoot for you, at another time.
Photoshoot appointments are available starting at 4:00 pm on a first-come basis. After you make your donation, we’ll give you a call to schedule your appointment time.
Give us a call in the studio at 281-899-0818 and we’ll be happy to talk to you about current availability.
If it is actively raining, we will move the event to an alternate weekend, but if the sky is just cloudy, we will not reschedule. Should we need to reschedule, you will be notified via email and/or text message.
We have a custom Bluebonnet Portrait Clothing Guide that help you choose the right clothing for your portrait We will send you this guide once your appointment is scheduled.
We love your 4-legged fur-ball almost as much as you do, but because of the time-constraints, we can’t include them in your portrait this year.
We are a portrait studio specializing in portraits for your home. However, each portrait purchase includes a non-printable, social media file for sharing.
Feel free to direct all questions to our studio. You can do that below.

About the Bluebonnets
Like other wildflowers, bluebonnet patches vary from year to year. Some years are better than others. We try to time this event to catch the bluebonnets at their peak, but there is a bit of luck involved with that as well. Keep in mind that there may or may not be a variety of other flowers in the field. This also varies from year to year.
In any case, we will do our very best to capture the most beautiful patches of flowers for your portraits.
